Welcome to the inaugural conference of the new International Society for Social Pediatrics and Child Health now moving beyond its European boundaries to engage with our global partners and supporters.
Working together to use our skills, resources and knowledge to develop local and global strategies to improve the health and well being of children and young people we hope you will join us in 2012 for what promises to be an exciting and informative conference.
Focusing on the use of evidence in our practice and our policy, the first day of the 2012 conference will cover evidence-based practice in the field of nutrition and we have already confirmed some highly respected speakers including Dr Liz Mason, Director of WHO's Department of Child and Adolescent Health & Development and Professor Catherine Law, Institute of Child Health, London.
On Day 2 we will focus on the use of evidence to influence national policy through advocacy and speakers will include Sir Harry Burns, Chief Medical Officer, The Scottish Government and Tam Baillie, Scotland's Commissioner for Children and Young People.
Other conference features will include free paper sessions (for which we will be seeking abstracts in Feb/Mar 2012), workshops, discussion panels and exhibits. There will also be an active social programme including Scottish music and dance, local cycle tours and visits to the beautiful Kingdom of Fife.
For the latest conference announcements check this website regularly or sign up to our Facebook and Twitter accounts to receive automatic updates and future links to our online abstract submission and registration systems.
We look forward to welcoming you to St Andrews in September 2012!
